Our design for the Libertyville Residence centers on a strong connection to nature, with light flowing in from every angle to create a bright, vibrant space. The neutral material palette is accented with striking details throughout. The main living area suits a family that entertains but values togetherness. The basement offers a retreat for adults and soon-to-be teenagers. The primary suite is modern and minimal, while the kids’ suites are lively—designed by the two young girls themselves, featuring playful pinks and iridescent tones.
Kenwood
A beautiful Southside Chicago home from the early 1900s has been revitalized with modern touches while respecting its rich history. Original windows and woodwork blend effortlessly with contemporary lighting and furnishings. The homeowner’s Turkish heritage is thoughtfully highlighted through authentic rugs sourced from Turkey and a palette of patterns and colors that evoke a sense of home.

Full Service Design Process
Discovery & Vision
Kuchar will meet with the customer to inquire on functional aspects of the home that will improve their way of living and make life easy. We will also discuss aesthetic goals to understand what type of colors, materials, patterns and products will fit the client’s style and make them happy in their home.
Space Planning
Implementation
We look at all rooms to layout furniture and custom cabinetry, making sure all functional needs are met. We will design room by room, incorporating the functional and aesthetic goals that were discussed with the owner. The client will see floor plans, wall elevations and 3D drawings indicating the furniture, materiality, lighting and custom millwork throughout.
Full construction documents are produced for the general contractor to price and build the project. These drawings are fully detailed based on the approved design. Throughout the construction process, we are involved in answering contractor questions, reviewing the construction progress onsite and installing furniture at project completion.

Common Questions
How quickly can my project be done?
We recommend 8 months for design and documentation, then 3-6 months for construction and procurement. Of course, we’ve worked in faster schedules but this is what is ideal to ensure you have the best experience.
What should my budget be?
Project costs can add up fast. We work with clients at the beginning of the project to determine their budget through detailed furniture budgets and contractor estimates. We recommend you discuss and define your budget prior to meeting with a designer.
Who is in charge of procurement?
Kuchar is a full service design firm, which means we will not only design each room, we’ll also procure all items to ensure accuracy. We track all shipments, handle damage, and schedule installations when the contractor is ready. Additionally, our team is onsite during installations to make sure every delivery is up to our standards and the client’s expectations.
Do you work on new construction homes?
Our team of residential designers has done work in both renovation zones and new builds. Regardless of where we are at, we are always inspired by the current landscape and your unique needs.
Where do you source product from?
The short answer: everywhere. From retail to high-end custom products, we have a large library of product sources. We will work with you to determine where we should source from which is usually based on style and budget as well as your quality goals.
