A River West Bridal Boutique Fit for a Bride in a Leather Jacket
Honey Bridal, a woman-owned independent boutique carrying gowns from sustainable, independent designers, came to Kuchar after settling into its River West home on North Milwaukee Avenue. The founders wanted nothing of the light, bright, ultra-feminine bridal shop — their bride is one who might wear a leather jacket down the aisle, and the space needed to feel edgy, moody, and luxurious while staying comforting and elegant. Kuchar built the interior around rich dark green walls, gold leaf, and velvet, drawing on the textures of dramatic tablescapes and heirloom jewelry rather than convention. A hospitality bar anchored by a "dripping honey" gold-leaf backdrop and an antique mirrored counter sets the tone, while softly curved arch dividers capped in gold organize the retail floor and frame the white gowns against the darkness.
