Arthrex
The Arthrex office was designed to be dual purpose- an office for employees and a hospitality space for doctors. A leading manufacturer in medical devices, Arthrex often does demonstrations of their products and invites doctors in to see how they work. This dynamic space includes a large bar and hospitality space that is ready for events, training room, lab, lounges, cafe, meeting and office space. The neutral palette followed the company's brand guidelines, however Kuchar added some warmth using leathers, woods and plantings.

An Office Designed to Work for Employees and Host Visiting Surgeons
Arthrex is a global medical device manufacturer specializing in orthopedic and minimally invasive surgical technology, and its office had to answer to two distinct audiences. The same interior that serves the company's day-to-day staff also welcomes the surgeons who visit to observe product demonstrations and participate in training. Kuchar approached the brief as a single, layered environment rather than two adjoining programs, integrating a substantial bar, a training room, a laboratory, a series of lounges, a café, and dedicated meeting spaces beneath one cohesive material story. The neutral palette draws directly from Arthrex's corporate identity, while leathers, warm woods, and considered plantings soften the architecture and signal hospitality without dimming the precision the company's work demands.

Corporate office design in Chicago has shifted toward interiors that perform across multiple functions: a working environment for staff, a stage for client meetings, and a hospitable destination for visiting partners. For medical device companies and other firms whose business depends on bringing physicians, customers, or stakeholders into the building, the office becomes part product showcase and part brand expression. Successful interiors in this category balance the rigor of a working laboratory and training room with the warmth of a club or lounge, drawing on natural materials, controlled lighting, and a restrained palette that flatters both routine work and high-stakes meetings. The result is a single architectural language that holds up to daily use and elevated guest experiences alike.
