Farmer's Fridge is a Chicago start-up which brings fresh salads to vending machines around the city. For their headquarters office, we brought their brand story of "farm-to-city" to life using a mix of materials which juxtapose urban and rural. Key materials include corrugated metal paneling and a chain-link fence stair enclosure. The main feature of the work-space is a 30-fixture Ikea pendant chandelier.

An Industrial Headquarters Designed for a Farm-to-City Brand
Farmers Fridge is a Chicago-based fresh-food brand whose business is built on bringing whole foods directly to commuters, offices, hospitals, and airports through a network of refrigerated kiosks. Their headquarters in Chicago's Kinzie Corridor occupies a century-old industrial brick building with thirty-foot ceilings, spread across two floors and a mezzanine. Kuchar designed the interior to bring the company's farm-to-city ethos into three dimensions, layering rural and urban material languages throughout the workspace. Painted and exposed brick, corrugated metal paneling, and a chain-link stair enclosure finished in the brand's color sit alongside softer farmhouse tones and a multi-fixture pendant installation that anchors the open office like a contemporary chandelier. A pair of kitchens — one for employees and one for product development — extends the brand experience into the rhythm of the workday.
