A Two-Level Lighting Showroom Built for Discovery and Display
EL Design is a contemporary lighting showroom in Elk Grove Village, Illinois — a community whose proximity to O'Hare and concentration of business infrastructure make it a logical home for a destination that draws designers, architects, and homeowners from across the region. Kuchar designed the two-level interior as an ever-changing environment, organizing the floor plan around vignettes, niches, and pedestals that allow EL Design to rotate product mixes as the lighting industry evolves. Private meeting spaces are integrated throughout the showroom to support the way the business actually runs — designers working alongside their clients, ALA-certified consultants leading specifications, and trade professionals reviewing options for active projects. The architecture takes a deliberate step back so that every fixture, fan, and furniture piece reads as the lead surface in the room.
